BTA 140 Battery Earth Auger: Powerful Drilling for Professional GroundworkThe STIHL BTA 140 Battery Earth Auger is built for professional applications in horticulture, landscaping, forestry, agriculture and construction. Capable of drilling holes up to 300 mm in diameter, it is ideal for installing posts, digging planting holes, creating drainage shafts and preparing small to medium-sized foundations.Powered by the STIHL AP System, the high-performance EC motor delivers powerful, low-vibration operation with minimal maintenance. Its quiet performance allows for comfortable use in many environments, while the balanced design and close-to-body drilling axis provide greater control and reduced operator fatigue.The BTA 140 features three operating modes to suit different applications: Slow for controlled, low-kickback drilling, Fast for challenging ground conditions, and Reverse to help release jammed auger bits. The selected mode is easily controlled from the ergonomic handle and displayed on the integrated screen.For added safety, the STIHL QuickStop system automatically stops the auger if excessive twisting is detected, helping reduce kickback and allowing work to resume quickly. A large support cushion improves comfort during operation, while the integrated transport bracket makes storage and transport easy and helps protect the QuickStop system.For optimum performance, STIHL recommends pairing the BTA 140 with the AP 300.0 P battery.Refer to the STIHL battery life and charging times guide to view compatible batteries, recommended battery options and expected runtimes.Note: The BTA 140 is supplied as a powerhead only. CONSTANT POWER

Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your tool will work with consistently high power across the entire battery charge, until there is no energy left in the battery.
LARGE-AREA SUPPORT CUSHION
FOR GOOD CONTROL. With the large-area support cushion, you can guide your earth auger smoothly and precisely. The cushion fits comfortably against your body during drilling, providing optimal hold and good guidance.
STIHL QUICKSTOP SYSTEM
FOR SAFE WORK. The STIHL QuickStop system automatically interrupts the drilling process as soon as it detects that the earth auger device is twisting. This usually happens when the auger is blocked. The system ensures that the earth auger device shuts down immediately in this case. Once the blockage has been removed or the auger has been loosened counterclockwise, the earth auger device can be reactivated at the control handle and the drilling process can continue.
QUICKSTOP TRANSPORT BRACKET
PROTECTED TRANSPORT. The switch-off lever of the STIHL QuickStop system can be folded in and locked for transport. This reduces the space required for storage. The compact design of the STIHL QuickStop transport bracket also protects all system components from impacts during transport.
EC ENGINE
LOW-MAINTENANCE AND EFFICIENT. Thanks to its compact design, low weight and high efficiency, the EC engine enables you to work in an energy efficient manner. This engine also has a long service life.
IPX4 CERTIFIED
SPLASHWATER PROTECTION. The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT
COMPATIBLE WITH THE SMART CONNECTOR 2A. You can mount a Smart Connector 2 A in the housing of the power tool at the dedicated position. Once installed, this connects to the control unit and transmits valuable power tool data to your smartphone or tablet that is within range. You can use the STIHL connected App and the STIHL connected Portal to view the STIHL connected gathered data and benefit from additional functions. Smart Connector 2 A sold seperately.
